March Madness is upon us. Not only are there more basketball games than I can take in for an entire year in the next few weeks, but there have been and will continue to be rising gas prices. March Madness basketball is a tradition to many across America, but are rising gasoline prices each spring as well known? They could be- rising gas prices aren't new, and have increased every year during this time. Some years we see huge "upsets" in gas prices that no one was able to predict, but if we're scoring brackets (or should I say gas price predictions), I'm still feeling comfortable half way through the first twenty minutes.

Spring time gas price increases are predicted by many analysts and prices are likely influenced by a majority of...

I don't think it's March Madness (i.e. basketball) but it's funny how the price increase seems to be happening about the same time every year. And that coupled with some really strange cracking unit fires. Hmmmm... anyone smell a dead hyper ueber sized dead rat here?

We all know the different times of year the gas prices spike, holidays, etc... Any body could predict gas price increases in the spring and more price hikes in the summer. We also know they jack it 10 cents and lower it 3 cents to make us feel better. It all seems like a game we have play until electric vehicles are more viable.

The oil industry is and has been running up the score. Sooner or later the consumer will make them pay for their greed.

Its all about how much you can squeeze out of the public, with higher than normal gas price. Must be GREED to all involved with the oil....

Thanks to Sam's Club for keeping prices 'lower' in the Dayton area. Most all other stations in the area are priced between $2.75 - $2.79/gallon, and I just filled up at Sam's Club for $2.62.

I'd rather be paying $2.50 or less, but I'll take my savings wherever I can get them.

Let's remember to conserve. To many people have decided that this is the new gas price like they did in the 70's.

Interesting analogy. I fear it's going to be a rout with gas prices soaring in the next few months with little defense to slow them down.

Pig-oil & friends are not OUR buddys. Not eve with the same outlook towards the concept of "supply & demand", simply put they squint their eyes, close their minds and raise prices regardless the conditions BY restricting the product flow through their distribution system!!!!

I drove from western Iowa yesterday. When I left, gas prices had already risen 10 cents and as I checked the prices at GasBuddy for Des Moines, most all "plus" prices in Des Moines (plus is called mid-grade on this forum - but never ever at any station that I've ever seen since the arrival of plus in the 1970's) were still at $2.599. But an hour and a hlaf later when we got to Des Moines, the price at all the stations we could see from I-80, had changed to $2.699 - except for one, and that was the Flying J truck stop in Clive, Iowa at I-80 and Hickman Road exit.

Anyhow - also good luck and congrats to the Hawks for nailing down heir 23rd. Hope the Cyclones can take 2nd et.

Oh yah, March Madness and prices - go Panthers - boo to prices.

Thank you for the bad news! Nothing personal. It is inevitable that prices will rise and the speed at which prices rise will be determined be the factors you've mentioned. The futility.

We always have price increase of at least $0.10 at a time but the decrease is always $0.01 at a time. We jumped up $0.13 on Wednesday (just happened to be the start day of the Kentucky High School Basketball Tourney here in Lexington)and have dropped $0.02 in 2 days. Curious to see if after tourney ends Saturday night if prices fall again!
