I'll admit- when I'm looking for a new car or looking at what people have made their cars into, one of the first questions I ask is how powerful it is. Sure there are some big engines in construction machinery, jets, and other monster or fast machines, but how about one of the most efficient internal combustion engines that also happens to make among the most power available on the market today? I'll admit- when I'm looking for a new car or looking at what people have made their cars into, one of the first questions I ask is how powerful it is. Perhaps its curiosity to know who can do the most with their engines.

A few years back, I happened to read about the Wartsila-Sulzer and was amazed. Sure there are some big engines in construction machinery, jets, and other monster or fast machines, but how about one of the most efficient internal combustion engines that also happens to make among the most power available on the market today?

Let's not be mistaken, we're not really comparing apples to apples...

But, no one bothers pulling it out -- because it hasn't paid off so far. This is a "toy" but its principles could possibly be used in car engines.

Problem with that is, it's diesel, which IS more efficient than a gasoline engine. If only they could make a diesel engine that would fit in a car or truck! OOPS! They do? Never mind....

They measure fuel consumption in TONS per hour, NOT mpg. Just HOW many miles would YOU expect a ship that large to go on a single gallon??? (about 0.00001 miles — or about 6 inches... if already moving)
