Another week, another gasoline price forecast. Last week, I forecasted that gasoline prices in the U.S. would rise to an average of $3.70 by today. Currently, the average stands at $3.67, so thankfully, the increase wasn't as bad as expected. I forecasted prices in Canada to rise to 125.4c/L, but they rose to 125.5c/L, slightly higher than expected.

This week there is additional uncertainty on the horizon as we started the morning off with some concern about debt problems floating around more of Europe. There are concerns Italy and Spain may now be on the brink of a similar situation to that of Greece. Such news is causing concern on the market, concern that it could slow recovery and result in a drop in demand for petroleum. With...

the problem is GREED by the government and by the oil companies!!! They are the ones keeping gasoline prices inflated. The other problem is that there are no other alternative fuels out there because the government didn't allow it to compete against oil companies....until an alternative fuel is out we will have to keep getting poorer because some of us need vehicles...

We know the result wasn't what was desired. That is, assuming that lowering gas prices was the desired result.

Re release of crude oil from the SPR - not even sure the companies that bought the oil have picked it up or processed it yet. Unrest in the Middle East, devaluation of the dollar, demand still normal to strong all play a part in the prices. Tropical storms in the northern Atlantic don't affect production, whereas action in the Gulf of Mexico could affect crude and natural gas production, refinery processing and pipeline operations if the storm come ashore.

Can we finally say for sure that the release from the strategic reserve didn't do a thing?

With such uncertainty in all prices and the possibility of new taxes, it is no wonder that businesses are not hiring. Why hire someone if you can't know that their services will remain profitable due to changes in the tax code, variations in your customers' spending habits, and changes in your supply chain?

Prices are much higher in Quebec and especially Montreal. Add on 8 cents for Quebec, 10 cents for Montreal. This is historically normal as our taxes are higher.

the DOW and NASDAQ are artificially inflated...they will soon come crashing down...there is nothing in the market to support it... our gov't has managed to bring us to the brink of bancruptcy and they are not smart enough to stop spending... both Dems and Repubs are to blame...you are all self serving and you all care nothing about the American People... you try to save the world when you should first try to save the United States... STOP!!! STOP spending money we don't have...

The world itself is on the brink of disaster. The financial inddustry was the trigger. Wealthy people drove the ship to this state by greed. And they still do.

I guess that by next year we're all going to wish we were only paying $3.70 per gallon and 125.5 L. BTW... one gallon is equal to 4.5461 litres. So in Canada we actually pay $5.71 per gallon.

The pres and congress is not the reason for GAS being higher. The reason gas is higher is oil companies and wallstreet.

Even if we dont buy gas for a month they will keep the gas higher. But we dont need to go green since that will cost 1000% more than oil
