It's probably the big incentives Toyota is offering combined with tax returns...

Just wait until Obama's health care reform passes and people will realize that they won't be able to afford a new car because they will be devastated because of how much it will cost their employers to pay to put you on the new health care agenda. Most small employers will fire people left to right because the economy is not rebounding enough! President Obama should stop shoving health care and socialism down our throats. If this continues we will certainly fall further financially and all wind up in a lasting Depression and find our next meals from a state sponsored soup line. People, will be devastated and pinch their pennies more and more with each passing month and year that comes after the Obama,Reid, Pelosi idea of appropriate health care which has tons of earmarks and will cost in excess of $2 trillion dollars at least within the first decade after it is enforced.

Don't expect the higher sales to last beyond the spring time with the economy still in the tank.

Spring fever with auto dealers giving deep discounts and did anyone say that it is also because the interests rates on auto loans are being kept artificially low.

Just wait until the general public gets over the nice weather and then starts to remember that the economy is still in the toilet and President Obama isn't doing anything to turn the economy around. They'll start feeling numb, just as they did before, when he first came into office and promised the world to us all, without telling us how he would pay for his expensive, liberal, left-wing spending bills...

MINER posted, "Like its been said before thats only for half a month, I've read articles that some states will be delaying sending out tax refunds because of lack of funds..."
Generally, the Spring Market" is influenced more by FEDERAL TAX REFUNDS which are projected to increase slightly this year. Typically, state refunds do not have much effect on vehicle purchases.
Unless there is a very dramatic outside influence on the vehicle industry or total economy, projections for the market are quite accurate and any differences will be insignificant when looking at the total.

Read Paw5X's post. Customers typically trade in a vehicle when they purchase a new one. Therefore, no increase in total number of vehicles being driven. As Paw5X stated, he like others often end-up with a vehicle that gets better fuel economy, thus, less gas being used. Effect on prices because of the sales increase is unknown since there are other factors driving the price of gas such as miles being driven, world politics and GREED.

I bought a new car this month and it means I will be driving my truck less (Gas Hog) and driving my new fuel efficient car instead.

That's only for half of the month. We need to wait for the whole month's sales to really get a picture of where sales are going.

Are they charging enough to cover costs? Not much point in moving iron at a loss because you produced too much.

where are MY big incentives ? I am too big to fail, so I should get a free car and free gas and insurance for life. Well, Mr. Obama ? Send my government check to the home address.

Nice weather, wanderlust and the receipt of income tax refunds has always driven the "Spring Market". Hopefully, the SAAR will remain at 12 million units or above as it will signal that the economy and consumer confidence is improving.

Spring time and people turn to methods of escaping the confines of the home. If gas prices keep rising these new vehicles could end up being expensive lawn art!!!! No job, no money.
