I last jacked up my car for an oil change. It gives me a chance to check various items while I'm under it. Also I can use synthetic oil and do it myself for what a lot of people pay for a regular change. I think the synthetic has good cold weather starting and wear benefits.

My vehicle showed up after a long weekend in Vegas recently with a new paint job and a few other new baubles. And a bad attitude. After taking a few snide and condescending remarks I'd had enough. I pulled out my shotgun and relieved it of its new stash of wealth and kicked the rear trunk to remind it who was still boss.

I haven't jacked up my own car for years. I use AAA for emergencies and a mechanic for oil and tire changes.

Must be old age. I can't remember the last time I jacked up any of my cars. I raised the tire off the ground on the motor home in 09 so the roadside service guy could change a tire. Does that count?

Right rear blow-out about a month ago. Tire store wanted to sell me 'road hazard' protection on the replacement tire. Couldn't understand why I'd pass up such a bargain. Well, it was only my second blow-out in over 40 years of driving. At that rate, the tire would be long worn out before its turn came up again.

Fortunately I haven't had to jack up my 2002 Chevy MonteCarlo SS since I first bought it back in 2003.
The last time I used the jack was for my 1984 Buick Regal, years ago, when it got a flat.

I used to change my own oil way back when, about 30 years ago. But now that I'm a little older, I have found an auto shop that changes the oil and filter and checks most everything for about $15. So it sure wouldn't be worth my trouble to try to do it myself. And if I get a flat, I call AAA.

I last jacked up my car 3 1/2 yrs ago to change my oil. Never since and never again. The dealer's price for oil/filter change is about $3 more than I paid at an auto parts place for the oil and filter, and with the filter underneath behind a protective panel.... As I said, never again.

simple valve stem leak, probably from a pothole. just remove tire, and lay down, and spray water, or whatever fluid you may have , to see if air is leaking out, around the rim, and valve stem, simple test.

I haven't had to jack up my car in quite a while, but the last time was because of a flat tire.
