It's judgment day for both the UAW and the automakers then. Let them face the music.

Click on Honda Civic and get this: top of the best selling car list in Canada for the past decade. Haven't the big three time sufficient to build something closer to that? Everything has a cause and effect.

Toyota & Honda don't have the crippling effect of the UAW drain on their companies.

I wish someone would prove to me how any President is responsible ofr the economic woes of this country. I think history will prove that no president has personally created any jobs that helped this country. Any job created by any president was soley the result of cronyism. I guess he is responsible for all the mismanagement of all the financial and automobile companies because of greedy CEO's only looking at their own bank accounts. Someone explain how Toyota and Honda are building new plants and hiring new people while the so called "Big 3" are trying to blackmail the congress for bailout money. If they had built the right mix of cars and trucks to begin with they wouldn't have to be offering rebates in the thousands to get people to buy them. The US and world economic failure is a result of greed by a handful of influential people. The election of a new president will not change things.

Hopefully the prices stay low...The gas stations will just be stuck with some extra 3's and 4's.

Be careful of what you ask for: yes, we have lower gas prices, due to the crumbling economy. Yes, we have lower real estate prices, due to the crumbling economy. Yes, we have lower food prices, due to the crumbling economy.

Speculators only rode the tail winds just as I am doing to the downside. Demand for OIL/GAS is way down due to China & India demand!!! Therefore prices have gone down also!!!

wasn't a rapidly cooling global economy, it was that speculators had driven it up artificially high

politicians actually have very little to do with the gas price on a day to day basis. they don't deserve blame when it goes up but also don't deserve praise when it goes down. Market forces, OPEC, etc, more likely reasons

$1.72 in the Cleveland Ohio area, some prices west of Cleveland are even a bit lower. It was nice for a change to fill up without emptying my wallet!

Remember gas never went up as much as oil did. If it had we would have been paying well over $5.00/gal

We'll see VTROCK...I don't expect our utilities dropping though. We're not doing anything to increase supply. In fact we're doing away with it. So sure things may decrease because we're handing all our monies over just to keep water running and our homes cool/warm.

Well, one has to wonder about the fact that Bush gets into second term and gas prices go spiralling out of control. Then, one month before election of a new President and gas prices go spiralling back down. Of course, it could also be because of the fact that the current administration has sunk our country and so many can't afford cars or gas -- even at it's current "low" price.

Are all the posts claiming that Bush is responsible for the lowering gas prices the same people that claimed he was responsible for the increased prices earlier this year?
I hate to break it to either the up-group or the down-group but Bush was not responsible for either.
